HuMUS: Suelos Municipales Saludables
El proyecto Suelos Municipales Saludables (HuMUS) es una iniciativa europea en el marco de la Misión del Suelo de la UE, diseñada para capacitar a municipios y regiones en la protección y restauración de la salud del suelo. El proyecto se desarrollará entre 2024 y junio de 2025, con especial atención al fomento de prácticas sostenibles de gestión del suelo mediante la gobernanza colaborativa y la participación de las partes interesadas.
HuMUS pretende mejorar la salud del suelo en el municipio de Caravaca de la Cruz, con especial atención al Valle del Quípar, una zona que se enfrenta a una grave degradación debido a prácticas agrícolas y de gestión del agua insostenibles. El proyecto pretende diagnosticar los principales retos medioambientales y sociales, implicar a las partes interesadas locales y desarrollar un Acuerdo de Gestión Territorial, un marco estratégico para orientar los esfuerzos de restauración sostenible del suelo.
Objetivos clave
- Sensibilización – Aumentar la comprensión de la salud del suelo entre los ciudadanos, las empresas y los gobiernos locales.
- Apoyar la aplicación de las políticas – Ayudar a los municipios a aplicar las estrategias de la UE sobre la salud del suelo mediante una gobernanza participativa.
- Desarrollo de capacidades – Proporcionar educación y formación para promover la gestión sostenible del suelo. Desarrollar soluciones locales –
- Co-creación y ampliación de enfoques prácticos adaptados a diferentes usos del suelo.
- Implicar a las partes interesadas – Reunir a agricultores, terratenientes, investigadores y autoridades públicas para impulsar la acción colectiva.
Nuestro papel
Como socio activo, la Academia de Regeneración contribuye al proceso de participación de las partes interesadas, garantizando que diversos actores -incluidos agricultores, responsables políticos, investigadores y jóvenes- participen en la configuración de la estrategia de restauración.
Nuestras principales responsabilidades incluyen:
- Facilitar talleres participativos para implicar a agricultores y propietarios en debates sobre la salud del suelo.
- Acoger programas educativos en La Junquera para demostrar prácticas regenerativas.
- Coordinar la investigación de campo y las evaluaciones de la salud del suelo para proporcionar información basada en datos.
- Desarrollar el Acuerdo de Gestión Territorial, un marco a largo plazo para la gobernanza colaborativa del suelo.
- Garantizar la transferencia de conocimientos y el potencial de reproducción, de modo que las estrategias de éxito puedan aplicarse en otras regiones.
- Al aunar la investigación científica, la aplicación práctica y la gobernanza participativa, el proyecto HuMUS representa un enfoque holístico de la restauración del suelo. Los conocimientos adquiridos en Caravaca de la Cruz no sólo beneficiarán al ecosistema local, sino que también servirán de modelo para otros municipios europeos que se enfrentan a retos similares.

Where to start? I signed up for the Regeneration Academy’s one-week crash course, with the intention of gaining some practical knowledge and hands-on experience of what regenerative agriculture is, and how it can be used to restore ecosystems and food networks. The @regenerationacademy at @lajunquera are experimenting with, engaging in and researching regenerative agriculture in their 1700 hectare farm. In this course, we learned about the regenerative model, a model that proposes a paradigm shift in the current agricultural system and that involves the commitment and fight against the loss of biodiversity, climate change and desertification. Through small seminars, debates, and above all, visits to the field, one knows first-hand what day-to-day life is like in the field and how to make a living from the regenerative business.
The course is taught by professionals in the field, who are the living example of the wealth that is generated there. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to make a living from agriculture, for environmental researchers, or simply for curious people who want to rediscover nature
